Multi Depth Soil Moisture Probe is developed based on the principle of dielectric constant and can simultaneously monitor the temperature, humidity, and conductivity of ten soil layers. The soil temperature measurement range is -30 to 70℃, humidity is 0 to 100%, and conductivity is 0 to 20000 μS/cm. It is suitable for agricultural engineering fields such as smart greenhouses, orchards, and irrigation.
Multi Depth Soil Moisture Probe is a soil parameter monitoring device developed based on the principle of dielectric constant. It can quickly, accurately, and comprehensively monitor the moisture, temperature, and conductivity of different soil layers. The number of monitoring layers can be customized, measuring a minimum of three soil layers and a maximum of ten soil layers simultaneously. The device adopts an integrated design, with a single sensor capable of synchronously monitoring multiple soil profiles.
Regarding measurement parameters, Multi Depth Soil Moisture Probe has a soil temperature measurement range of -30 to 70℃, an accuracy of ±0.3℃ (within the range of -10 to 70℃), and a resolution of 0.01℃. The soil moisture measurement range is 0 to 100%, with an accuracy of ±3% (loam) and a resolution of 0.1%. It should be noted that soils with high organic matter content (organic carbon content greater than 12%) and high clay content (clay content greater than 45%) may require calibration for specific soil types due to their dielectric relaxation characteristics. The soil conductivity measurement range is 0 to 20000 μS/cm, with an accuracy of ±3% (0 to 10000 μS/cm range) and ±5% (full range), and a resolution of 1 μS/cm.
The device casing is made of PVC plastic pipe or imported PC material. Internally, it emits a high-frequency detection wave of nearly 1 GHz, which can penetrate the plastic pipe to effectively sense the soil environment. The sensor electrodes do not directly contact the soil, avoiding electrical interference with the soil and plants. It is also unaffected by salt ions in the soil, and agricultural activities such as fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation do not affect the measurement results. The sensor uses a spiral measuring electrode design, improving the contact between the sensor and the soil and minimizing measurement errors caused by air gaps. The equipment boasts an IP68 (underground) or IP67 protection rating, capable of withstanding long-term outdoor monitoring environments.
Regarding communication and power supply, Multi Depth Soil Moisture Probe employs the standard Modbus-RTU485 communication protocol, achieving a maximum communication distance of 2000 meters and supporting secondary development. The sensor's power consumption is as low as 0.26W, suitable for long-term unmanned monitoring in the field. The equipment supports a wide voltage range of 10 to 30V and can also be equipped with an optional solar panel (8W) and built-in lithium battery (5000mAh) power supply. This product is suitable for agricultural and rural affairs bureaus, universities, research institutes, water resources bureaus, environmental protection bureaus, and enterprises. Installation requires drilling; holes are drilled using a soil drill, and grout is poured in to install the sensor, ensuring close contact between the sensor and the soil.
