Based on the principle of fluorescence, the chlorophyll a concentration meter is specifically designed for the quantitative detection of chlorophyll a content in water bodies. It has a range of 0 to 400 micrograms per liter, a resolution of 0.01 micrograms per liter, automatic temperature compensation, and supports online continuous monitoring.

The chlorophyll a concentration meter is a professional device specifically designed for detecting chlorophyll content in water bodies and is widely used in environmental monitoring, aquaculture, lake management, and scientific research. Chlorophyll a is a core indicator of phytoplankton biomass and a key parameter for evaluating the degree of eutrophication in water bodies. It is listed as a mandatory indicator in lake and reservoir algal bloom early warning, surface water quality assessment, and drinking water source monitoring. The instrument's working principle is based on the fluorescence and light absorption characteristics of chlorophyll: under illumination by a light source of a specific wavelength, chlorophyll a in the water absorbs light energy and emits fluorescence of a specific wavelength. The intensity of the fluorescence is directly proportional to the chlorophyll a content; by detecting the fluorescence intensity, the concentration of chlorophyll a in the water body can be calculated. Common excitation wavelengths are approximately 440 nm or 470 nm, and fluorescence emission wavelengths are approximately 680 nm.

In terms of technical specifications, the chlorophyll a concentration meter has a measurement range of 0 to 400 micrograms per liter, a resolution of 0.01 micrograms per liter, and a measurement accuracy better than R²>0.999. The device has a built-in automatic temperature compensation function to eliminate the influence of temperature changes on fluorescence intensity, ensuring the consistency of measurement data under different water temperature conditions. Depending on the application scenario, chlorophyll a concentration meters are available in portable and online types. Portable instruments are compact, have a built-in lithium battery, and are suitable for rapid sampling of water samples in the field and laboratory testing. Online instruments support continuous probe monitoring, are equipped with an automatic cleaning brush to prevent biofouling and light window contamination, and are suitable for deployment in long-term unattended water quality monitoring stations. The device output signal typically uses an RS485 digital interface and the standard MODBUS protocol, and can be integrated into multi-parameter water quality monitoring systems to build a comprehensive water quality monitoring network together with sensors for temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, etc.
