1.Radar Flow Meter Product Introduction
Radar Flow Meter is a non-contact flow measurement device using microwave radar technology. It can simultaneously measure water level, velocity, flow, and cumulative flow.Radar Flow Meter is a fully automatic flow telemetry system that can monitor the entire open channel water flow process. This flow measurement system is not affected by temperature, humidity, rainfall, water depth, muddy water, and floating objects on the water surface. It is very suitable for flow measurement under water conditions in open channels such as irrigation areas and rivers.
2. Radar Flow Meter Components
Main components
(1) Radar water level, surface velocity and flow rate three-in-one;
(2) Telemetry terminal RTU;
(3) Solar power supply system;
(4) Pole and bracket;
(5) Lightning protection grounding.
3. Radar Flow Meter Working Principle
The radar surface velocity meter measures the surface velocity of river water bodies based on the principle of pulse radar technology. It is used in conjunction with a radar water level sensor and is installed at regular sections of open channels such as rivers and irrigation areas to calculate the flow rate. That is, at the regular section, the speed of the water flow through the section is measured, and the depth of the water body is measured at the same time. The water flow through the section is calculated using mathematical geometry principles.
4. Radar Flow Meter Flow Station Features
The main feature of the radar surface flow measurement system is that it uses a non-contact method to measure flow. It mainly consists of a set of radar water level, flow velocity and flow three-in-one sensors, which are suspended above the channel by means of pole erection. By measuring the water level depth and instantaneous surface flow velocity of a regular section, the flow passing through the section at this moment is calculated. The main features are as follows:
(1) Advantages
It adopts non-contact type and can be installed with water, without being restricted by channel water flow or water accumulation.
No water blocking phenomenon;
Not easily affected by debris and floating objects in the channel;
Not affected by water quality or sediment content;
Suitable for channels with faster flow rate and larger flow rate.
(2) Interference factors
Influence of wind speed: Wind speed can easily cause fluctuations on the water surface, resulting in false alarms and false detections;
Slow flow rate: When the water surface flow rate is slow, the measurement error increases;
Sandy weather: Sandy weather has a significant impact on the signal strength of radar waves, resulting in large measurement errors;
Heavy rainfall: In heavy rainfall, radar waves are easily affected by the rainfall intensity, resulting in large measurement errors.

Flow measurement
Flow rate = average flow velocity x flow cross-sectional area x correction factor
The average flow rate is obtained by collecting the surface flow rate of the fluid through the flow meter and calculating the model.
The cross-sectional area of the flow is calculated from the water level measured by the water level gauge and the cross-sectional information.
